We saw her for the first time in 2011, when "Pu$$y" was a club anthem around the country. Now, three years later, she stands proud above the BenBoard 10 with her debut album, as well as the Hot 25 with Ariana Grande.
Yep, Iggy Azalea is a rap queen on the rise, and we need to stand out of her way because her career is on fire. As the first woman to ever be listed on XXL's Freshman list in 2012, Iggy Azalea is the newest name in hip-hop today. Her debut album The New Classic debuted at no. 4 on last week's BenBoard 10, and shoots up to the top spot this week.
At the same time, Azalea meets herself at the summit of the Top 25 with Ariana Grande. The top-notch collaboration topped iTunes charts around the world in just hours, where it still remains today (May 7). It's been performed on TV three times already (Radio Disney Music Awards, Apr. 28; iHeart Radio Awards, May 1; The Ellen DeGeneres Show, May 6), and it hasn't even been out for two whole weeks. Iggy's verse is a striking mix of words that fit perfectly together, which caps off a phenomenal song.
Her latest single "Fancy" is arguable her most well-known hit to date, as the Charli XCX collaboration rises to no. 9 on the Top 25 this week, and sees a 18-7 rise on the Billboard Hot 100 as well. The synchy beat peaked at no. 2 on the iTunes chart, behind Grande's "Problem", which Iggy is featured on.
