Well, it's finally September, which means we're officially two-thirds done with 2014. How crazy is that? So much of 2014 is already done, but there are so many fall albums to look forward to. Keep an eye out for new music from Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Taylor Swift and more all over the next four months.
In more short terms, let's run down the Top 25's highlights from this week.
Taylor Swift shoots up to no. 1 with "Shake it Off" after her strong no. 2 debut last week. This also bumps her up to no. 1 on Pop Songs, de-throning MAGIC!'s "Rude" on both charts. She holds at no. 1 on Digital Songs, and debuts at no. 9 on Streaming Songs, thanks to the song's video.
As mentioned above, MAGIC!'s "Rude" falls 1-2 on both the Top 25 and Pop Songs charts. It also falls 3-8 on Streaming Songs, and 3-6 on Adult Contemporary Songs.
On a more happy note, Jessie J rises 5-3 with her Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj collaboration "Bang Bang". This gives it a 4-3 boost on Pop Songs, as well as holding it at nos. 3 and 1 on Digital and Streaming Songs, respectivley.
Sam Smith decreases 3-4 with "Stay with Me" on both the Top 25 and Pop Songs. However, it spends a third week atop Adult Contemporary songs, and holds at no. 5 on Digital Songs.
Only one song in BenBoard history had the power to rise 13 slots at once—John Legend's "All of Me". Until this week, that is. Yep, Nicki Minaj ties that record with "Anaconda", as it slithers from no. 18 to no. 5. This brings it to the top of Hip-Hop Songs, and keeps it at no. 4 on Digital Songs.
In the chart's other big news, Meghan Trainor reaches a new peak of no. 6 with "All About That Bass", Iggy Azalea's "Black Widow" crawls up the top ten (rising to no. 8), and Pitbull's "Fireball" rockets in at a no. 14 debut. Chris Brown and Fifth Harmony also see debuts this week; Brown's "New Flame" (featuring Usher and Rick Ross) at no. 19, and the girl group's "BO$$" at no. 21.
Have a great week! Check back on Sunday (Sun. 7) when all the charts will be refreshed for the new week.
