Katy Perry parties into top five; MAGIC! and Sam Smith debut; Iggy Azalea stays 'fancy' at no. 1
Although her birthday isn't for another couple months, Katy Perry isn't taking time off from celebrating. "Birthday" debuts at no. 5 on this week's Top 25, earning the title of the Biggest Debut. Perry's hit also eyes a no. 3 debut on the Pop Songs chart, behind Ariana Grande's "Problem" and Nico & Vinz's "Am I Wrong". It marks her third song to enter the Pop Songs chart in its short seven-month history.
Just weeks ago, the song's parent album 'Prism' dropped off the BenBoard 10 after a record-breaking 31 weeks. The only album currently charting on the BenBoard 10 that has a chance of breaking Perry's record is the Frozen soundtrack, which clocks in at 22 weeks as of Sunday (Jun. 15).
The summer of 2014 is shaping up to be one with many 'summer anthems'. One of which, MAGIC!'s "Rude", debuts this week at no. 13 on the Top 25. Prior to this week, it peaked at no. 2 on the Worldwide Songs chart, and no. 5 on the Streaming Songs chart (it rises 5-4 this week). It is expected that the song will make a big jump on next week's (Jun. 22) Top 25.
The final debut on the Top 25 is Sam Smith's "Stay With Me". It saw a no. 4 debut on last week's Worldwide Songs chart, but slips to no. 5 this week as Ed Sheeran's "Don't" claims the top spot.
Back on the Top 25, the top four slots remain the same as last week: Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX ("Fancy") spends a second week at no. 1, while Azalea also claims the no. 2 spot with Ariana Grande ("Problem"), which led for five weeks. Calvin Harris' "Summer" (which tops the Dance Songs chart for a third week) remains at no. 3, while Nico & Vinz stay cool at no. 4.
