Iggy Azalea has officially re-wrote BenBoard history. Her smash hit "Fancy" has become the longest-reigning song on the Top 25 with nine weeks as of August 3.
We first saw "Fancy" hit number one on June 8, 2014, when it shot up 3-1. Now, nearly two months later, it hasn't budged from the top. "Fancy" was our no. 1 song of both June and July of this year, and it has pulled ahead in total 2014 Top 25 points to no. 3, behind Avicii's "Hey Brother" and Katy Perry's "Dark Horse". Should "Fancy" continue its streak, it has a good chance of becoming the no. 1 song of the year.
Behind Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX's legendary song, MAGIC! holds at no. 2, with "Rude". The reggae hit spends a fourth week atop the Streaming Songs chart, and a third week atop the Pop Songs and Adult Contemporary Songs charts. However, it falls to no. 3 from the summit on Digital Songs. Not to be looked down on, the song has a rather good chance of replacing Azalea's "Fancy" at no. 1 on the Top 25 next week (Aug. 10). Keep an eye on the charts sometime later this week to see if the Canadian group can make the jump.
Sam Smith 'stays' at its positions from last week on the Top 25, Pop Songs and Adult Contemporary Songs charts. "Stay With Me" slips 2-4 on Digital Songs, but gains one spot to no. 2 on Streaming Songs.
Over on the Rising 10, Smith scores his first no. 1 album, with 'In the Lonely Hour'. After debuting five weeks ago, the album finally ascends to the summit, surpassing Sia's '1000 Forms of Fear'. This also gives him his first chart-topper on the Pop Albums chart.
Sam Smith also appears on Disclosure's "Latch", which jumps 5-4 this week. "Latch" spends a third week atop the Dance Songs chart, and holds its no. 5 peak on Streaming Songs.
Trading places with "Latch", Nico & Vinz's debut "Am I Wrong" falls to no. 5, while holding its place on Pop Songs, Adult Contemporary Songs, and Streaming Songs. However, it suffers a major fall (3-8) on Digital Songs, now five spots from its no. 3 peak.
The next two spots stay the same; Ariana Grande's "Problem" and Sia's "Chandelier" hold their grounds at nos. 6 and 7, respectively. "Problem" remains at no. 4 on Pop Songs and Streaming Songs, while falling 5-9 on Digital Songs.
Meanwhile, "Chandelier" has been seeing some jumps on BenBoard's charts. The heart-racing song (which has recently been nominated for Video of the Year at the VMAs) jumps two spots on the Adult Contemporary Songs (no. 4), Digital Songs (no. 7), and Streaming Songs (no. 7).
This week's biggest debut was inside the top ten. Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj's very highly anticipated song "Bang Bang" has finally been released, and it has made a big splash on BenBoard's charts. Starting off at no. 8 on the Top 25, "Bang Bang" has already secured a no. 1 spot on the Digital Songs chart (surprise!). However, it isn't quite eligible for the Streaming Songs chart yet (Spotify's charts are a week behind), and it debuted one spot too short to make the Pop Songs chart.
Maroon 5's "Maps" holds at no. 9, while falling 4-5 on Digital Songs. It remains at no. 5 on Adult Contemporary Songs and no. 8 on Streaming Songs, as well as spending a sixth week atop the Rock Songs chart. The band's album 'V' will be released on September 2. 'V''s second single "It Was Always You" made its BenBoard debut at no. 2 on Adult Contemporary Songs this week.
Rounding out our top ten, Calvin Harris' "Summer" falls 8-10. It keeps its place at no. 2 on Dance Songs, but decreases on all other charts it makes an appearance on. "Summer" falls 4-6 on Adult Songs and 7-9 on Streaming Songs.
